Reports: Prefect of Lecce bans Roma fans from away match, closes away sector at Via del Mare

New

Multiple outlets report that the Prefect of Lecce, Natalino Manno, has signed an ordinance that prohibits residents of the Lazio region from purchasing tickets for the Lecce-Roma fixture and orders the complete closure of the away sector at Stadio Via del Mare. The measure is linked by reports to clashes between the two sets of supporters in 2025. RomaPress notes the decision follows a run of away-match bans for Roma fans earlier in the year, and ForzaRoma.info says supporter groups U.T.R and A.I.R.C. have published a letter calling the move discriminatory.

Why it matters

If the reports are accurate, Roma supporters will not be able to attend the club's first away match of the season in Lecce, altering travel plans and removing the away atmosphere for that fixture. The decision, and the supporters groups' public protest, continue a pattern of restrictions on Roma fans and could further strain relations between fans, local authorities and the club while keeping policing and crowd-safety questions high on the agenda.
